Tässä kirjassa on käytetty apuna yksityiskohtaisia kuvia selkeyttämään Heian-katojen teknisiä yksityiskohtia. Se ei ole suunnattu vain edistyneimmille harjoittelijoille, vaan kaikille jotka ovat alkaneet harjoittelemaan tätä uutta "tietä". On hyvin vaikeaa ymmärtää Karate-Don asettamia haasteita, jos ei ole harjoitellut lajia. Lajin ymmärtäminen ja oikean tien löytäminen vaatii sisua, henkistä ja ruumiillista kestävyyttä sekä kuria. Karaten henkiseen puoleen liittyy saumattomasti myös ruumillinen puoli, miten liikuttaa käsiä ja jalkoja voimakkaasti, suorittaa tekniikoita välillä hitaasti, välillä nopeasti. Eri puolustukset, hyökkäykset, hypyt, asennot ja väistöliikkeet ovat muutakin kuin liikuntasuoritus. Ne ovat harrastajan ensimmäinen haaste, mutta tämänkin jälkeen haasteita tulee yhä enemmän ja vaativampia harrastajan edetessä taidoissaan.
Alussa kaikille kerrotaan, että karate on "tyhjän käden" taito. Heian Katat ovat portti ymmärtämään korkeamman tason Katoja, joita harjottelemalla voi vihdoin ymmärtää todella mitä "tyhjän käden" taito tarkoittaa. Ilman tätä ymmärrystä ei voi koskaan todella hallita tätä kaunista taistelutaitoa. Jokaisen todellisen harrastajan täytyy ottaa vastaan tämä haaste ja tehdä työtä sen selvittämiseksi, vaatipa se kuinka paljon tahansa hikeä ja peräänantamatonta harjoittelua. Vain tällä tavalla voidaan saavuttaa Karate-Don puhtain muoto.
